Six hours in, I thought I’d flown across the world for nothing.

I’ve traveled to nearly 60 countries and seeing silverback gorillas had been on my list for a long time. What I didn’t know is that the permit buys the attempt, not the outcome. You pay, you fly, you hike, and some people come back having seen nothing at all.

There is no trail. Your guide cuts one with a machete while you walk behind him, because the family moved overnight and yesterday’s path is already gone. The radio goes quiet. Nobody tells you how much further.

I’ve made that same bet on every project and every opportunity I’ve ever taken on. You commit fully, before anyone can tell you how it ends. You will feel defeated. Sometimes for months. Sometimes for years. And the only thing that has ever worked for me is taking the next step anyway. Into the unknown. With no guarantees or assurances.

Eight business lessons in the swipe. Which one do you need this week? Tell me the number.

Off Market. No. 01. Every place I’ve traveled has taught me something different about how I think.

What have you been avoiding for weeks? For months? For years?

What excuses have you told yourself for why you can’t show up? Why you don’t show up? Why you aren’t good at it?

The cold call list you pick up and then put down. The email you have rewritten eleven times and still have not sent. The video you were going to film. The conversation you know you need to have and is months overdue.

You are not avoiding it because you are lazy. You are avoiding it because somewhere along the way you decided you are not naturally good at that particular thing, and you are waiting to feel ready.

You are not going to feel ready.

My entire career is built on things I was never good at first but became good at through repetition. Through showing up. By trying again. By having a positive attitude and making the miserable s**t fun.

I was a terrible cold caller. I was worse on camera. The first time I spoke in front of a room I could not feel my hands. Every single one of those things is now a core part of how I run my business.

Not because I started with talent. Because I kept showing up before I was good, and I found ways to make it survivable while I got better.

That is the entire game.

So what is the thing you are avoiding right now? And what is your version of 90s freestyle that could get you through it?

Tell me in the comments. I want to know what you have been putting off.

And save this for the day when you need that little extra motivation to just keep going.

Most salespeople think a pitch is about them.

Their rankings. Their marketing deck. The number they would price the building at.

That is how you lose the business.

Before I walk into any pitch meeting, I am studying psychology first. Who is actually sitting across from me. What they are solving for. What winning looks like to them, because it is almost never the number they say first.

After a decade of doing this, I can guarantee one thing about construction. Projects run overtime. Projects run over budget. Which means developers do not need a broker who can quote a number. They need a partner who can move with the market when it shifts. And it always shifts.

The most important question in a pitch room is not what would you price it at. It is what is the goal, and how do we get there together.

That is what I bring to every day & to every client.

Comment 🙌 if you want more of my sales strategy breakdowns from the field.

Kinda chic to look at your life and realize you built exactly what you set out to build. And still be figuring out what you actually want it to look like.

This fall marks five years since I started The Masters Division.

The empire. The stages. The book. The reality TV moments I was terrified of. The countless 4am starts. The years of dinner at my desk. Unexpectedly finding love and realizing there may actually be more to all of it.

I spent my 20s figuring out who I was. I have spent my 30s reinventing her.

Not because the first version was wrong. Because the woman who built it was never going to be the same woman who got to live in it.

The business made me. The stages sharpened me. The book cracked me open. The travel showed me what I was looking for. The reality TV forced me to stop hiding. The stillness taught me that the thing I had been running from was actually the thing I was running toward.

If you are somewhere in the middle of building the life you thought you wanted while quietly wondering if you still want it, this one is for you.

You get to keep becoming. That is the whole point.

Save this for the days you forget.
