We will be hosting CL’s annual Thanksgiving “Lunch” tomorrow, which is now a virtual cocktail party because... #2020. Special thanks to for helping us distribute goodie boxes to our team so we can all enjoy an together while we celebrate. Drink recipe included here in case you’d like to one up at . It’s been a challenging year, but the CL Team is thankful for having a strong and committed group of colleagues who have powered through and even made it in the process. We are also grateful to our friends and alumni around the world who continue to stay in touch while we cannot gather in person. You are all in our thoughts as we gather tomorrow to celebrate the that can never take away.

- Illinois Federal Court Refuses to Enjoin Remote Arbitration Hearing: Arbitrators, rather than court, should decide procedural question of whether to hold remote hearing due to Covid-19 pandemic.

- Fifth Circuit Holds Award did not Violate Public Policy where Arbitrators had rejected claim that contract had been unlawfully obtained as part of the Lavo Jato bribery scandal. Court must defer to arbitrators’ conclusion that alleged bribery did not invalidate the parties’ contract.

- SDNY Holds Section 1782 Available in Connection with Investor-State Arbitration: Tribunal in arbitration between Russian investor and Republic of Lithuania is “foreign or international tribunal” under 28 U.S.C. § 1782.

- Fifth Circuit Rejects Claim against AAA and Arbitrators for Damages Following Vacatur of Arbitration Awards: The FAA provides for vacatur of award as exclusive remedy for arbitrator bias.
