Bismillah. Nangadef, community.
I need to talk to every nonprofit leader, every masjid board member, every community organization coordinator who's reading this. Something changed that affects you directly.
For almost six years, the IRS would not accept group exemption applications. The door is open again. But the rules are completely different now.
One group exemption per central organization. A minimum number of subordinate organizations. Every branch has to share the same tax-exempt category and purpose statement. Everything is electronic — Form 8940 through Pay.gov. The fee is $3,500.
And if you already hold a group exemption? You have until January 2027 to get your house in order.
I hear people say, "Oh, that's plenty of time." It's not. Start now.
Oh — and paper applications? Done. Everything for 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) is electronic now.
I help faith-based organizations, community nonprofits, and NGOs navigate this from the very first conversation. Step by step. Ndank ndank.
Share this with someone who leads a nonprofit. They need to see this.
