Yesterday, we returned to the shoddy, half-roofed gazebo where Alex asked me to marry him 4 months ago.

The lake was still. The mountains were hushed. We stood next to each other in puffy jackets, on the cliffs overlooking the lake, the afternoon sun warming our faces like a hug from an old friend I haven't seen in ages.

This place has always afforded us peace, the kind of inner peace that is so precious to find amidst all the bustle of our busy daily lives.

When we enter this world, suddenly it becomes that much easier to close our eyes, take deep breaths, and focus on the world outside our heads.

Our ears become alert, and we start to hear the wind touching the evergreens sounding different from when it glided over the lake. Thank you for this refuge. We are so grateful to have found this peace, this place, to get engaged here, and to return.

We are entering the last 24 hours of the West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH)'s 🦃 Turkey Challenge!! I'm so thankful that over 17 of you have donated 65 turkeys through my fundraising page. This also means you have helped WSCAH raise 17 volunteer hours from me, through your generous donation, because I'm committing to:

Each donation = 1 Hour of Volunteer Work

🎯Goal: 100 turkeys + 40 volunteer hours
📈Progress: 65 turkeys + 17 volunteer hours

WSCAH will be giving out turkeys and fixings for one more day (tomorrow), before Thanksgiving.

Every $27 gives a family a 16lbs turkey and holiday fixings for Thanksgiving dinner. Even if you can only give $1, you will buy a turkey nugget and I will commit to 1 Hour of Volunteer Hour.
