BEWARE OF CLEAR ICE (sometimes referred to as “black ice”) which oftentimes forms during the winter on sidewalks and streets when snow or ice melts in the sun and then freezes on a surface due to colder temperatures or a colder surface. Since it is clear you won’t see it until it is too late. If you are a property owner, be aware of this THAW AND REFREEZE cycle and put down salt and check for ice. If you are walking on a sidewalk or driving, be aware that what may look like water or dampness may be ice. If a condition like this causes you to fall and hurt yourself, call PATSOSLAW at (212) 949-8080.

Over 40 years of representing people from all walks of life, I have had the pleasure of having numerous clients become friends. I like to think it is a reflection of a motto I have tried to live up to in my practice: “we treat you like family, only better.”

I was thrilled to attend (with my wife) and sponsor The Nyack Center's Legacy Gala held on November 5, 2022, where we celebrated this year's honorees- Kenyatta Jones-Arietta & Rudy Arietta and The Rotary Club of Nyack for their support of The Nyack Center and the Rockland County community. The event benefited The Nyack Center's programs and Legacy Fund. For those who are not familiar with The Nyack Center, I was introduced to it by my friend, Bill Batson, when I opened our satellite law firm office in Rockland County at 99 Main Street, Suite 306 Nyack, New York 10960. Since 1990, The Nyack Center has provided its community all year long with before and after school programs, summer camp, teen council, enrichment programs, and so much more. My wife and I have been happy to donate to them on a regular basis for all the good work that they do.

Our law firm was pleased and honored to participate in RIDES & STRIDES, held on October 23, 2022 at Boulders (Clover) Stadium in Pomona, New York to benefit The Breast Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Hundreds of people ran, walked, and rode to raise money for the Center. Many were breast cancer survivors or relatives and friends of survivors, or did it in memory of someone who lost their battle with breast cancer. Over $180,000 has been raised so far. What an incredible event a wonderful day. We met many amazing people.
Proceeds from RIDES & STRIDES will ensure that those who are underinsured, uninsured, and medically underserved receive the screening services they need on an annual basis.

WE TREAT YOU LIKE FAMILY, ONLY BETTER!!
Spent a nice day today with a former client and now a friend of over 10 years.  I represented Gloria Dellamonica and her husband 10 years ago in a car accident case.  Since then I have represented three generations of her family, about a dozen cases in total.  She also has been kind enough to refer other friends to me as well.  She has done this because she trusts me completely and she knows that anyone she refers to me will be treated like family, only better.
Call me, Chris Patsos, at (212) 949-8080 or private message me on Instagram if you want a personal injury attorney with over 40 years of experience and who will treat your case as if it is his only one.

Although New York State is one of safest for bicyclists, thousands of accident involving bicyclists happen every year. Many of those accidents happen due to driver error but many also happen because bicyclists fail to follow one of the most important rules of the road: bicyclists must follow the same traffic rules as motor vehicles and that means stopping at stop lights and stop signs.
If you are in an accident while bicycling, you should contact an attorney who is experienced in handling roadway accident cases, like Chris Patsos. Chris has 39 years of experience handling vehicle and bicycle accident claims throughout New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley. Call him at (212) 949-8080 or DM him here.

ALWAYS stop at the stop line. Look both ways, even on a one way street. Proceed slowly until you have a full view in both directions and look both ways again. Do not attempt to cross or turn onto the intersecting roadway unless you can see clearly in both directions.
If you are involved in an auto accident, be sure to call an experienced injury attorney, like Chris Patsos. Chris has 39 years handling serious personal injury accident cases. He has offices on Madison Avenue and Nyack, NY and also works out of Brooklyn. Call him at (212) 949-8080 or DM him here.

NOT WEARING YOUR SEAT BELT? YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUMP FROM A PLANE WITHOUT A PARACHUTE

Effective November 1, 2020, New York State requires that all occupants of a motor vehicle, front seat and back, wear a seat belt. You are subject to fines for failure to wear your seat belt. But much more important than a fine, seat belts work in protecting you from injury and death. Seat belts reduce the risk of death by 45% or more and cut the risk of serious injury by 50% or more.
In addition, if you file a lawsuit for your injuries from a motor vehicle accident, but it is proven that you failed to wear a seat belt and that had you worn a seat belt you would have likely avoided the injuries you sustained, your money recovery in the lawsuit will be reduced.
If you were injured in a motor vehicle accident, contact an experienced accident attorney as soon as possible. Chris Patsos is an attorney with nearly 40 years of experience representing seriously injured motor vehicle accident victims. He has offices on Madison Avenue in New York City as well as in the Hudson Valley (Nyack, NY). Call him at (212) 949-8080 or email him at [email protected]

It was my pleasure to host the Nyack Red Hawks Varsity basketball team, Coach Smith and four of his assistant coaches for dinner at My Father’s House Southern Cuisine in Nyack, NY. They all got to enjoy Chef Adrienne and Chef Johnathan’s amazing food and sweet southern hospitality. I also gave the team a “project”: the one player who comes up with the best way of helping someone else by the end of this month will win two Brooklyn Nets home playoff tickets (mine). Coach Smith will determine the winner. I look forward to attending a RedHawks game next year and keeping in contact with the team
and coaches. And I will wear my new RedHawks shirt proudly. GO REDHAWKS!!

EVEN ONE IS TOO MUCH

Drinking "just" a glass of wine or beer or other alcohol at a meal before driving home is something that many people do without thinking twice about it. However, the smallest amount of alcohol can affect your vision, reaction times, and ability to drive, even if you remain well below the legal limits where you live. The reality is there is no safe amount of alcohol you can consume and drive. Play it safe, always have a designated driver in your party who does not drink any alcohol.

After a nearly 50 year decline in traffic deaths in the United States starting in the 1960s, the annual death rate has increased since the summer of 2019. Traffic experts attribute this increase in part to an increase in aggressive driving.
