In New York, your employer doesn't have to tell you if you're being paid fairly. The Benefits Transparency Act would change that. Tell your lawmakers to pass it now.

The Civil Rights icon was directly responsible for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the establishment of the EEOC, offering a purposeful alignment of foundational principles of the U.S.A. and the 14th Amendment to the actual practices, which are not yet substantially aligned through today.

May his dream become reality through the furthering of his efforts.

New York City offers many protections to employees that are not available everywhere. One protection not yet provided to everyone is protection against being terminated at any time for any reason known as "at-will" employment. Of course, you cannot be fired for unlawful reasons, such as on the basis of a protected category or for whistleblowing, but there's a gap. It is difficult for individuals to accept and agree with the fairness of that gap. The Secure Jobs Act is in development, and should it pass, be a groundbreaking change in workplace dynamics. I encourage support of a change to "at-will" employment.
