Job Announcement for Employment/Civil Rights Firm: Associate

We are Menken Simpson & Rozger LLP, a small, cutting-edge, plaintiff-side employment law and civil rights firm. For over 25 years, we have represented individuals and classes of employees in discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, and whistleblowing matters. We are currently a tight-knit group of six advocates, comprised of three partners, two associates, and a full-time office manager. Despite the intensity of our legal practice, we maintain an extremely collegial, flexible, and supportive office culture with a focus on mentoring more junior attorneys and providing them with opportunities to work directly with clients and speak in court. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, dogged advocate with excellent writing and research skills, a passion for working with clients and co-workers, a willingness to take initiative and work hard, and a commitment to advancing civil rights for employees and victims of government misconduct alike. The candidate must have 2-5 years of litigation and/or clerkship experience, and we prefer candidates who (i) have drafted at least one substantial brief, (ii) have excellent time-management and organizational skills, and (iii) possess an ability to work independently on legal research and writing projects. Admission or pending admission (passed the bar) to the New York Bar is required. Prior employment law experience is a plus but not necessary.

Compensation and Benefits: We offer competitive health benefits and an employer matching retirement contribution. Base salary range for this associate position is $80,000-$120,000.00 plus annual and case origination bonuses. In-office perks include decent coffee, firm lunches on Thursdays, and a fridge stocked with La Croix. We are a hybrid operation, so you will have the opportunity to work from home part of the week.

LASERSHIP WORKERS: Menken Simpson & Rozger LLP has filed a class action lawsuit against LaserShip and its affiliates for failure to pay the legally required minimum wage and overtime to delivery drivers in New York State. We allege that LaserShip and its affiliates paid their drivers a flat rate per week regardless of how many hours drivers worked, and that they treated drivers as independent contractors despite controlling every aspect of their work.
