Interesting story out of Ireland, where an SWAT team raided a retired NYPD officer's home for his old service revolver. Ireland affords no legal right to bear arms (like our Second Amendment), and is one of the most firearm-restrictive countries in the world, going back to the 1920s. In the wake of their war for independence and then Civil War, the Irish civilian population was apparently armed to teeth with unregulated guns (thank you, Michael Collins) and the new government felt the need to regulate. Ooh, aah, up the 'RA!

An 88-year-old retired NYPD cop living out his golden years in Ireland was busted in a dragnet worthy of a Hollywood movie — for keeping an old, decommissioned revolver in his home.
