Recently, I updated my estate plan to include some of my digital assets and who I want to manage them when I am no longer able to. 

🖥️ A digital asset is anything that exists in digital form, that is protected by a password. 

Here are some examples: 
🔹Social media accounts
🔹Youtube account
🔹Blogs/websites
🔹Landing pages
🔹Email lists and sequence
🔹Domains
🔹Funnels
🔹Digital products
🔹Digital courses
🔹Cloud-stored information

An asset of course is anything that can put money into your pocket, but some digital assets also store items of sentimental value such as your social media content on instagram/facebook, which may contain photos you want managed or kept by a certain person or people.

Your plan should include a plan for either maintaining or destroying your ESPECIALLY if your digital assets are generating revenue for you! Many of us own domain names that maintain value, digital products and courses that generate revenue.

Your goal is only as good as your plan to achieve it.

One of the biggest mistakes about succession planning is not creating a plan soon enough. The sooner you create a plan, the more options will be available to you.

Back with another unsexy topic!

Quick recap on the topics we’ve shared over the past month. At this point we know that generational wealth requires some prior planning and we shouldn’t until we get to a certain age or income level to start planning. We also know that as soon as you have a goal for what you want to happen, you should start seeking some support in creating a plan.

Clarify your goals >>make a plan to achieve them >>>crush those goals, sis!

🔑The key is to document the process. That means making it clear what you want to happen, when you want it to happen and who you want to take over when you are no longer willing to carry the torch.

I repeat, getting clear on your goals comes first (I’m repeating this because it is one of my most frequently asked questions is “when should I start?”) If you are not clear on your goals, you should seek an advisor who can support you through that process.

Here are some things you can consider in finding the right estate planning lawyer:

1. If you own a business, can they support you in creating a plan for your life and business? The right lawyer will ask questions about what your current situation is but also what your goals are for yourself, your family and your business.
2. Clarifying your goals. If you are unclear on what your goals are, your attorney should be able to provide you with options that you may not have known were available simply by sharing your goals, family dynamics and your concerns.
3. Implementation of the plan. It’s one thing to create a plan but making that plan work for you is a different story. Be sure you are walking away with more than just a set of documents. You should understand how your plan is going to work when you need it to.
