Join us in celebrating our 2025 Distinguished Honorees at our 40th Anniversary Gala on Friday, April 17. Distinguished Jurist Dana M. Douglas of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit will be among those recognized.
Judge Dana M. Douglas currently serves as United States Circuit Court Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She received her BA from Miami University (Ohio) and her JD from Loyola University College of Law New Orleans. Douglas served as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana to Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Douglas practiced in the areas of energy, products liability, and intellectual property litigation as a shareholder at Liskow and Lewis, APLC.
She was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana in 2019. She was nominated by President Biden in June 2022, and in December 2022, Douglas, was confirmed by the Senate, with bipartisan support, to serve on the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Judge Douglas currently sits on the board of the St. Thomas More American Inns of Court. She has served in leadership positions with New Orleans Bar Association and the Greater Orleans Louis A. Martinet Society; The Pro Bono Project Justice For All Ball; the Louisiana Bar Foundation Community Partnership Panel Chair; the New Orleans Civil Service Commission; and the Louisiana Chapter of the Women’s Energy Network.
She was presented with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) President’s Award; twice selected as “Women of the Year” by New Orleans CityBusiness; received the National Bar Association Women Lawyers Division Outstanding Minority Partner in Majority Firm Award; received the Martinet Society Ernest N. Morial Judicial Pacesetter Award; LSBA Crystal Gavel Award, Federal Bar Association Camille Gavel Award; and Loyola University School of Law Gillis Long Public Service Award.
