Meet Jacob, this year's Parliamentarian, and a 1L from Savannah, Georgia. He is excited to help organize a range of events meant to further the mission of Tulane Tax Law Society. These events will not only help educate students interested in tax law but bring speakers and employers to TLS. Jacob's interest in tax law was initially sparked as a Peace Corp Volunteer in China who handled many legal issues his undergraduate students faced when they wanted to move overseas to study or work. This summer he will be externing for the Honorable Eldon E. Fallon and furthering his personal research into area of tax and corporate law. He can't wait to meet everyone in person or over a Zoom call!

Meet Sharon, this year’s Professional Development & Alumni Chair. Sharon is a 2L from New City, New York. She is excited to connect current Tulane Law students with Tulane alumni, and work with the Events Chairs to organize speaker events involving Tulane alumni as well. Sharon recently studied the importance of tax credits to historic preservation efforts in New Orleans, and across Louisiana, and was fortunate enough to learn from a number of professionals working in the field. Currently, Sharon is a Junior Member of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, a member of the Sports Law Society, Co-Chair of the Tulane International Baseball Arbitration Competition, and a clerk for TULAP. Before coming to Tulane, Sharon drafted and negotiated publishing agreements for a number of years, and intends to pursue a transactional practice after graduation.

Meet Swati, a 2L from the DC area who lived abroad for 8+ years. She is thrilled to be serving as an events chair for the 2020-2021 term. This summer, after postponing her judicial externship with the Hon. Jay C. Zainey at the U.S. District Court, Swati served as a Judicial Extern to the Hon. Meredith S. Grabill at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and as a research assistant to Professor Feibleman. Swati is a member of the SBA Dean’s Advisory Committee, the Public Interest Law Foundation, and a junior member of the Maritime Law Journal. She’s passionate about tax, finance, and bankruptcy/restructuring law and looks forward to putting on fun and enriching events for us!
