It's National Pro Bono Week! This week, The Pro Bono Project is taking the opportunity to honor some of the incredible volunteers, supporters, and partners who make our work possible.
Today, we are spotlighting Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, who was honored last week as The Pro Bono Project's Friend of Pro Bono for 2026.
Southeast Louisiana Legal Services is an organization that has been an essential partner to The Pro Bono Project for many years. SLLS and PBP share not only a mission, but a commitment to making sure that individuals and families throughout Southeast Louisiana have somewhere to turn when they need civil legal assistance. Through LSC subgrants and case transfers, referrals, shared resources, collaboration, and support, our organizations work together to reach more people and help close the justice gap.
We would like to recognize some of the wonderful people who make this partnership possible, beginning with Executive Director Laura Tuggle, whose leadership and dedication to access to justice have made SLLS such an important force in our legal community. We are also especially grateful to Doug Carey, Director of Pro Bono Programs, for his work collaboration and strengthening the connection between our organizations. And, of course, Roxanne Newman, SLLS Deputy Director, who also serves on The Pro Bono Project's Board of Directors. Her commitment to both organizations has been invaluable in advancing our shared mission.
We share a common goal: ensuring that people who cannot afford an attorney are not left to navigate the legal system alone. We have always believed that access to justice is strongest when the legal services community works together, and SLLS is a wonderful example of that philosophy in action.
We are deeply grateful to the entire SLLS team for their friendship, leadership, and longstanding partnership.
