A great week for our Crescent City clerks 👏

Director Ryan O’Connor presented for the New Orleans Bar Association on making the most of a summer clerkship, with the four clerks from our New Orleans office attending the event. The conversation focused on how law students can maximize the experience and position themselves for future success.

After the panel, the group headed out for a Young Lawyers Section summer social around the city. To wrap up a productive week with the Firm, our clerks connected with Galloway attorneys at a happy hour near the office.

Galloway's summer clerk program is tailored to give law students hands-on experience and a clear look at the day-to-day practice of law.

More highlights from this summer’s clerks are on the way.

🧱 Not every “defect” is a defect—sometimes it’s a punch‑list issue with a contract solution. Galloway attorneys Mark "Tiger" Pharr, Denise Lambert, and Hannelore "Hanny" Saab recently secured a favorable outcome that shows sorting those from true defects can be the difference between thousands and millions.

In a recent Texas arbitration involving our residential builder client, the claimants sought over $3.45M including Deceptive Trade Practices Act treble damages, but the arbitrator concluded our client owed just 5% of the total demanded. The decision turned on our strategic advocacy, burden‑of‑proof issues, and the finding that many alleged defects were really punch‑list items that would have been addressed upon payment of the total contract price.

We represent clients in construction defect and defective‑work disputes across residential and industrial projects, helping assess exposure and move matters toward resolution. Connect with our team and read more about this case on our website!

Last week, our team led a CLE focused on corporate immigration strategy for ACC St. Louis. 💼🌎

Special Counsel Megan Jackler joined virtually from our Greater New Orleans office, sharing insight shaped by her experience as a former federal immigration judge and U.S. Navy JAG Corps litigation attorney.

The conversation focused on what’s top of mind for in-house teams right now, from employment-based immigration to workforce planning and navigating an evolving regulatory landscape.

We value opportunities like this, and the more to come, to collaborate with corporate counsel and contribute to conversations that impact how businesses operate every day.

Another strong summary judgment result for a national retailer in Florida!

With clear surveillance video and established law on open-and-obvious conditions, Galloway showed the motorized cart had been moved from shade to direct sun by the plaintiff’s companion before the alleged injuries.

Catherine Arpen and our Jacksonville team turned those facts into an early, efficient resolution.

For retailers, outcomes like this underscore the value of acting quickly: preserve video, document equipment placement, and establish control early. Discover more on this case and our representation on our website.

Great food, great conversations, and a little Houston heat 🔥🦞

Our Houston team enjoyed hosting a crawfish boil for ACC Houston, gathering in-house counsel for an opportunity to connect, catch up, and build relationships in a more relaxed setting.

We love to support our in-house colleagues, whether it’s around a tray of crawfish or in the moments that matter for their business.
