TO MY DEAR FAMILY, FRIENDS and SUPPORTERS:
I would like to thank every one of you from the bottom of my heart for all of your hard work, support and help that you gave to me in this campaign! I also thank all of you for the sacrifices you made to help me and the hardships we endured. We truly ran a great campaign and I have no regrets having stepped into the "Arena" and I thank you for stepping into it with me.
I would like to share something very personal to me. We all have something that our fathers' have past on to us. My dad carried a poem in his wallet from the time he was 15 years old until the day he died at age
46. As most of you know, it is inscribed on his tomb and it is called "The Man in the Arena" by Theodore Roosevelt written in 1910:
"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor
defeat".
I too carry this poem in my wallet and I have strived to live my life that way as did he. I am glad to have had the courage to go in the the political Arena, I am glad that you were there with me in the battle, I am glad we left it "ALL" on the field and I have not a single regret!!!
I do find it very troubling and shocking Ms. Knott, actually stated at the Alliance for Good Government forum that she has only tried "10 cases" as lead attorney in her 13 years of practice. In my opinion, it is even more shocking and troubling, that on October 21, 2011, Ms. Knott was found by the Louisiana Supreme Court's Judicial Campaign Oversight Committee of to have knowingly made false and untrue statements about me in her attack TV ads in violation of the Judicial Code of Conduct. It is also very interesting that most judges enjoy an entire career and never
violate the Judicial Code of Conduct. So as an attorney and a resident of New Orleans, I find it offensive that a judicial candidate who has been cited for lying and violating the Judicial Code of Conduct could possibly become a Judge. The good news is that the election results show that Clare Jupiter will win this race as she enjoys broad support across our great City.
