Tomorrow, LCCR's longstanding program in East Baton Rouge (EBR) begins a new chapter as we hand its reins over to Louisiana’s Office of the State Public Defender.
It was 9 years ago that the Advance Advocacy Project was started, allowing LCCR to collaborate with OPDBR’s juvenile defense attorney to provide the same level of holistic, trauma-informed care that LCCR had already pioneered in New Orleans.
The program has successfully led to a 21% decline in EBR's juvenile incarceration rate and served 737 children.
As Louisiana’s Office of the State Public Defender takes over this week, we trust it will further Advanced Advocacy’s legacy, allowing it to continue changing the lives of children in EBR.
