Today, I’m heartbroken to share that we lost a great man, a great trial lawyer, and a true friend — Phil Cossich. Phil was someone who stood tall in every room he walked into, fought fiercely for justice, and cared deeply for the people around him. His kindness, his mentorship, and his unwavering spirit will stay with me forever.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Deena, his family, his friends, his colleagues, and everyone who loved him. We will miss you, Phil — thank you for the example you set and the legacy you leave behind.

We’ve had our hands full supporting our parish recently, but this is one event that absolutely deserves recognition—the 20th anniversary of the Plaquemines C.A.R.E. Center.🧡

We joined community leaders, elected officials, and supporters in recognizing the remarkable vision of Judge Joy Lobrano and the late Lieutenant Cathy Butler, two women whose determination laid the foundation for the life-changing services the CARE Center provides today. Their legacy continues to strengthen families across our parish, offering support to troubled youth, victims of domestic violence, individuals facing addiction or mental-health challenges, and so many others in need.

It was powerful to hear Attorney General Liz Murrill and Chief Justice John Weimer, acknowledge that Plaquemines Parish is a model for what community care should look like.

A special congratulations goes to Director Julie Olsen, along with the Board, staff, and volunteers who pour their hearts into this mission every day.
