Can a parent move out of state with a child after divorce or separation in Florida?

Not without following Florida’s relocation laws.

If a parent wants to move more than 50 miles away for at least 60 days, they usually need either:
✔ Written agreement from the other parent
✔ Court approval

If the other parent objects, the court will evaluate whether the move is truly in the child’s best interests.

In our latest blog, we explain:
• Florida parental relocation laws
• What judges consider in relocation cases
• How relocation affects custody and timesharing
• What happens if a parent moves without permission
• How parents can protect their rights during a dispute

Relocation cases can quickly become emotional and legally complicated. Taking the right steps early matters.

Many parents still believe Florida courts automatically favor mothers in custody cases. That is not what the law says.

In Florida, fathers and mothers have equal legal rights when it comes to timesharing, parental responsibility, and custody decisions. Courts focus on one thing above all else: the best interests of the child.

But equal rights do not always lead to equal outcomes.

The parent who demonstrates stability, involvement, cooperation, and consistency is often in the strongest position during a custody case.

In our latest blog, we discuss:
✔ Whether fathers and mothers are treated equally under Florida law
✔ What judges actually consider in custody disputes
✔ Common myths about fathers’ rights
✔ How fathers can strengthen their case
✔ Why legal strategy matters early in the process

If you are navigating divorce, paternity, or a parenting dispute, understanding your rights now can make a major difference later.

Florida courts do not automatically favor mothers in custody cases. Fathers have equal legal rights when it comes to timesharing, parental responsibility, and protecting their relationship with their children.

The reality is this: custody outcomes are based on the child’s best interests, not gender. But preparation, involvement, and legal strategy matter.

In our latest blog, we break down:
• How Florida courts evaluate fathers and mothers
• Common myths about father’s rights
• What judges actually look at in custody disputes
• Steps fathers can take to strengthen their case

If you are navigating divorce, paternity, or a custody dispute, understanding your rights early can make a major difference.

Child support in Florida is calculated using a uniform formula that looks at each parent’s net income, the number of children, childcare expenses, and insurance costs. These details help the court determine a fair payment amount based on the child’s needs and each parent’s financial ability. Support orders can also be modified if circumstances change.

Understanding how these calculations work is key to protecting your rights and ensuring accurate support. Learn more at https://griffinfamilylaw.com/child-support-lawyer/
