Heads up, Santa Rosa County 💙

Debris pickup is expected to start Wednesday. Two loose piles — no bags, they skip bagged debris:

🌿 Yard waste
🔨 Construction debris

Beside the road, not in it. Clear of hydrants, mailboxes, power lines. Regular trash stays in the cart.

Unfortunately, disasters bring out more than just the best in people. They also bring out scammers looking to take advantage of those trying to recover.

As our community continues recovering from Hurricane Isaias, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to stay alert for potential scams.

⚠️ Be on the lookout for:

Unlicensed contractors offering quick repairs or debris removal.

Fake insurance adjusters requesting personal information or payments.

Individuals falsely claiming to represent the American Red Cross or other relief organizations.

Anyone demanding upfront payments or pressuring you to make immediate decisions.

✅ Before you hire, pay, or share personal information, VERIFY!

Ask for identification, check licenses and credentials, and contact the organization directly using a verified phone number.

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts!

Our community has been through enough. Don’t let a scammer make a difficult situation worse.

Stay alert, Santa Rosa County. Protect yourself, your property, and your hard-earned money.

CATEGORY 3 ISAIAS - Unfortunately the worst case scenario is happening with Isaias rapidly intensifying into a major hurricane. This is a life-threatening situation for those on the coast of Alabama & the Florida Panhandle. A major hurricane at landfall means this storm will rival Fredrick, Opal, Ivan, and Dennis. Please heed evacuation orders from officials if you’re in the path of this storm.

If you go west, you don’t have to go as far because the west side of the storm is the weakest side of the storm.

If you go east, you need to go twice as far as you think you need to because all of the bad thunderstorm, thunderstorms, and tornadoes that spin off from the storm will be more on the east side.

ISAIAS IS COMING - I’m very confident Isaias will make landfall on beaches of Alabama and the Florida Panhandle tomorrow night. I’m thinking Gulf Shores to Destin will be ground-zero. This will be the worst storm to hit this area since Sally in 2020. Those in Isaias’ path must finish hurricane preparations today. Isaias will come in fast and hard, so the weather will quickly deteriorate along the coast on Friday. This will be a night time storm, so make sure you have candles and flashlights ready to go so you can see if the power goes out. I’m expecting gusts up to 100 MPH, life-threatening surge, and flooding rain — with tropical impacts extending far outside the cone. This will be a big tornado producer as it moves inland so I would avoid travel along I-10 in this area tomorrow. Be safe! More later!

They forecasted 10 inches of rain this weekend, but Florida gave us dramatic coastal views instead.

Whether it’s blue skies or moody clouds over the Gulf, the Emerald Coast always delivers.
