What is a Rate Lock?
A rate lock is an agreement between you and your lender that guarantees your mortgage interest rate for a set period (typically 30, 45 or 60 days), even if market rates increase before your home closes.

Why it matters?
Locking your rate provides peace of mind by protecting your monthly payment from rising interest rates while your loan is being processed

How it Works?
You’re buying a $500,000 home in Nashville and lock in a 6.25% interest rate for 45 days. If rates increase to 6.75% before closing, you still receive the 6.25% rate you locked, potentially saving hundreds of dollars each month and tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the loan.

What is VantageScore?
VantageScore is a credit scoring model created by the three major credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

Like traditional FICO scores, it helps lenders evaluate a borrower’s creditworthiness, but it often provides a more complete picture of a consumer’s financial behavior.

Why is it good news for buyers?
✅ Can score consumers with limited credit history
✅ May consider more recent credit activity
✅ Multiple mortgage, auto or student loan inquiries within a shopping period are generally treated as a single inquiry
