✨ Employee Highlight: Sara Proctor ✨

Meet Sara, our Intake Paralegal!

Sara began her career as a first-grade teacher before discovering her passion for client service. After working in both pet care and medical settings, she found her perfect fit at MHPS in 2023, where she helps connect clients with legal solutions. Around the office, she's affectionately known as our "Chief Morale Officer!"

Outside of work, Sara loves reading, traveling (she's visited five countries so far!), watching horror movies, playing video games, and spending time with her husband, Kyler, their three horses, nine cats, and mini Australian Shepherd, Freyja. Fun fact: Sara has synesthesia and experiences colors as tastes.

Sara is also the first person in her family to graduate from college, and she lives by her dad's advice to learn something new every day. One day, she hopes to pick up Japanese again after previously learning Hiragana and Katakana.

Spring at MHPS 🐝🌱

This spring we got to celebrate THREE new editions to the MHPS crew. Emily Bazemore (née Kerinuk), part of our Family Law team, got married! Our Senior Paralegal - Project Manager, Katie Aeschliman, served as their officiant. 💒

Sara Proctor, our Intake Paralegal, and Isabel Lemmon, our Marketing Manager, both welcomed new pets to their family. Sara adopted an Australian Shepard puppy and Isabel is now the proud owner of a senior Maine C**n.

Our partner Matt Potempa, the head of our Probate Litigation team, wrapped up a new semester of teaching at Belmont's College of Law. One of his students, Abby Ray, serves as our Legal Clerk here at MHPS!

Continuing our dedication to our Nashville home, partner Adam Barber, his wife Shannon, and the husband of our Legal Assistant, Jan Boroff Miller, are closing out another season with Habitat for Humanity.

MHPS is proud to support Music Night, the Fellows, and the Grinders Switch Rodeo.

✨ Employee Highlight: Maria Guillen ✨

Meet Maria, our Administrative Assistant! Maria holds a BS in Psychology and started her career as a Registered Behavioral Therapist before transitioning to the entertainment industry, and then MHPS!

She’s an avid movie-watcher and a card-carrying Regal Unlimited member. Outside of work, you can find her at the theater (Icee in hand), reading, or cooking new recipes. Her favorite film is Everything Everywhere All at Once.

We’re so happy to have her on our team!

✨ Employee Highlight: Janalee (Jan) Boroff Miller ✨

Meet Jan, one of the Legal Assistants at MHPS. Jan joined our firm after several years in the nonprofit sector, where she worked in program development, management and evaluation. She is a founding member of and served on the board of the Lite Foot Environmental Foundation in Savannah, GA from 2023-2025.

Outside of MHPS, Jan owns a small flower farm in Bells Bend called Freckle Farms and volunteers weekly at Old School Farm, a nonprofit care farm in Bells Bend that provides supportive employment for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

She’s an avid gardener and loves hiking, traveling, cooking, baking, yoga, embroidery, and reading. She’s been married to her husband, Kyle, for 12 years and they have a dog named Reggie Miller. She loves ice cream, British comedians, and considers "Humankind: A Hopeful History" by Rutger Bregman to be one of her favorite books.

✨ Employee Highlight: Sean Martin ✨

With 26 years of family law experience in Middle Tennessee, Sean Martin has tried, mediated, and negotiated nearly every type of case. After starting his career with a judicial clerkship in Davidson County, he’s spent decades “in the trenches” where he honed his talent for negotiation and delivering results when the stakes are high.

Outside the office, Sean enjoys fishing, camping, and cooking with his wife, Leslie, and their son, Ferris. They even create videos together for Ferris’s YouTube channel and are big fans of Phish.

His favorite book is The Great Gatsby and his favorite foods are hot dogs topped with sauerkraut or chili!

Fun facts: Sean can juggle, won a chili cook-off judged by Mike Vrabel, and he lives by this advice: Schedule time off. Future you will thank past you.

Sean says he’s most proud of his family. We’re proud to have him on our team!

p.s. enjoy a throw-back of Sean in college at the end of the slideshow 🎓
