How Child Support Works in Tennessee......Tennessee works with an "Income Shares" model through their Child Support Worksheet. The outcome of your support is based on your gross monthly income, how much parenting time you have with your kids, and any additional expenses like health insurance and daycare. If you're looking to file to set child support and you don't know how much the other parent makes, there's a chance the court will "impute" their income. Typically the Judge will base the amount on the parents past income, ability to earn, and other factors. If that information is not available to him or her honor, they may "impute" their income at the amount used in Child Support Guidelines. Men or Fathers are imputed at $43,761 gross annual income. While Women or Mothers are imputed at $35,936 gross annual income. Holiday Time - Remember that Holiday Time in your Parenting Plan takes precedence over your Day to Day Schedule. If you share custody and Christmas would fall on your normal week, but the holiday time listed states that the other parent has that week this year, it's their week. If the other parent isn't following the rules, call us and we can help. Because as hard as it is to give up one holiday, it's a lot easier than losing future time with your children because the rules weren't followed. We wish you all a Happy Holiday Season!
