From the New York Times: Uber’s Strategy for Fighting Sexual Assault Suits: ‘What Were You Wearing?’

"More than 4,000 lawsuits have been filed, so many that thousands were combined to streamline procedural matters. Most remain in the early stages. The New York Times reviewed documents from the three cases that reached trial and about a dozen others that have advanced to the stage when the parties start exchanging documents and conducting depositions.

The litigation has revealed a clear pattern: Uber’s lawyers scour women’s private communications, medical records, therapy notes and other sources for sensitive details, including other s*xual assaults, childhood abuse and domestic violence. They grill the women about those issues, their s*x lives and their behavior on the night of the incident."

From Consumer Federation of America --> New Analysis: Homeowners Insurance Companies Earn Millions in Interest and Investment Income with Every Day of Claim Delay

"For each day homeowners insurance companies delay claims payments, the industry collectively takes in an extra $8.8 million in interest and investment income, according to a new analysis released today by the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) in partnership with Weiss Ratings. If claims payments are not issued to policyholders until one week after the insurer should have paid, home insurers collectively realize a $61.6 million windfall while adding stress and financial hardship to customers waiting for their claim check to arrive."

Congratulations to Theresa DiChiara Grisham! Theresa is TTLA's Deputy Director and has now also been appointed to NATLE's 2026-2027 Board of Directors.

The National Association of Trial Lawyer Executives (NATLE) is an organization whose members are chief executives and staff of over 60 justice associations from every U.S. state, Washington DC, several city associations, and Canadian provinces. The member associations collectively represent over 60,000 attorneys, and we work together to ensure justice for all.

Theresa DiChiara Grisham serves as Deputy Director of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, where she has worked since 2015.

She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Criminal Justice and has dedicated her career to law enforcement, the courts, legal education, and public service.

Before joining TTLA, Theresa served as a deputy sheriff, Youth Services Officer, Education Manager for the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts, and Tennessee Drug Court Coordinator.

She is also a full-time adjunct professor of Criminal Justice at Bethel University and a graduate of the State of Tennessee Government Management Institute.

Theresa lives in Nashville with her husband, Brian and daughter Scarlett.
