This is horrible. We feel so sorry for the family of that poor child. NewsChannel 5 Nashville yearly clearing of dead trees from hiking trails is standard maintenance for a camp. A full investigation needs to take place, including who was the property director and camp director and why that trail was not cleared and if not cleared then not used.

Police say 15-year-old Camden Robert Callihan died in a tragic accident after an unstable tree fell during a group hike at YMCA Camp Widjiwagan.

Metro Nashville Police confirmed that a tree hit a child at the YMCA camp and was transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
