That is why those in positions of authority worked hard to ignore or hide the voices of those asking for justice. We speak up on behalf of survivors, regardless of age, so that individuals and families can be heard. We are dedicated to empowering survivors and co

nfronting those who abuse their authority, and we will use our experience and resources to represent you. If you or a loved one is a survivor of abuse or assault, contact us. While it can be scary to take those first few steps on the journey to justice and recovery, you don’t have to be afraid. During its annual gathering on June 14, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) voted to agree to create a way to track pastors and other church workers credibly accused of s*xual abuse. The SBC also voted to create a task force to guide reforms.

North Carolina lawyer Joe Knott has said the SBC should focus on fighting sin rather than addressing issues like abuse.

“I guarantee you women and children are going to be victimized no matter how much — and that is going to make us potentially targets of great class-action lawsuits, which could be the end of the Southern Baptist Convention,” Knott added.

Pressure has been growing on the SBC for years to reform what survivors know is a deep-seated combativeness to dealing with credible accusations of s*xual abuse.

Survivors are now getting the opportunity to tell their stories of how some of those entrusted with leadership positions in the church used their authority to s*xually groom and abuse congregants – many of whom were children or minors.
