🦒🐾 That’s a wrap on the TBA Animal Law Forum! This annual favorite was a sold-out success at the Nashville Zoo, bringing together attorneys, animal welfare advocates, Tennessee officials, veterinarians, nonprofit leaders and other experts to explore the latest trends and developments in animal law.

Attendees also enjoyed zoo ambassador animal meet-and-greets, a behind-the-scenes giraffe care tour and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow professionals. 🐘

A special thank-you to the TBA Animal Law Section Executive Council for organizing this year’s forum and to Nashville Zoo Animal Health Director Dr. Heather Swartz and her team for hosting! 💚

🗳️ Early voting starts Wednesday! How should Tennessee balance public safety and the right to liberty when it comes to pretrial bail?

In the latest Tennessee Bar Journal, 8th Judicial District Attorney Jared Effler and Nashville attorney David Raybin present opposing perspectives on the proposed constitutional amendment that would expand judges’ authority to deny bail in certain criminal cases.

Raising the Bar: When Women Are Well kicks off Nov. 9 with a candid conversation about mental health in the legal profession.

Kristen Jennings Black, Rachel Schaffer Lawson and Julie Singer will talk about attorney stress and recovery, why seeking help can be difficult, the pressures facing working women, and practical ways to build a healthier, more sustainable career.

And that’s just the first hour. The day also includes conversations about leadership and mentorship, practical tools for managing competing demands, and wellness in practice.
