Brokerages spend a lot of time thinking about:

“How many agents can we recruit?”

But maybe the better thing to think about is:

“How can we help the agents we already have become more productive?”

An analysis published by Inman found that, across the nation’s top 100 real estate brands, the agents that recently left those brokerages were 46% more productive than the agents being recruited to replace them.

That means a brokerage can grow its agent count on paper while actually losing production.

NAR’s 2026 Member Profile also found that the typical individual agent completed nine transaction sides in 2025. By comparison, agents that are on a team—typically teams of four—reported a median of 32 transaction sides.

It isn’t a direct per-agent comparison, but it shows the amount of business that can flow through a collaborative team structure.

The problem is that not every agent wants to recruit, train and manage a traditional team.

But nearly every agent needs help sometimes.

The brokerages that wins in this current market won’t simply recruit more people.

They’ll create better ways for the agents they already have to collaborate, earn, learn and grow.

Growth isn’t just headcount.

Growth is helping your people do more.
