Kim Davis is back in the headlines. 🙄

Not because she found a shred of respect for the Constitution.

Not because she’s had a change of heart.

And definitely not because she’s qualified to preach about “the sanctity of marriage” (she’s been married 4️⃣ times). ☕️

She’s back because she has no identity outside her warped worldview and a desperate need for attention. A hypocrite. A bully.

Here’s the truth: even if the Supreme Court entertained her nonsense and Obergefell v. Hodges fell tomorrow, your existing marriage is still protected under the Respect for Marriage Act. 🏛️

✨ That law forces the federal government and every state to recognize marriages legally performed anywhere in the U.S., regardless of s*x, race, or national origin.

So no—we’re not panicking. And neither should you.

Marriage isn’t the only way to lock down your rights.

In fact, some legal docs can protect you better and faster than a marriage license:

✅ Power of Attorney
✅ Medical Power of Attorney (Health Care Proxy)
✅ Living Will / Advance Directive
✅ Last Will & Testament
✅ Beneficiary Designations

At Memento Law, we don’t sit around hoping the courts stay friendly—we make sure you’ve got Plans B, C, D, and E.

Your rights, untouchable. 💪🏳️‍🌈

Here’s what to do when your aging parent is being targeted ↓

If your parent just lost money to a scam, you’re not alone, and you’re NOT overreacting.

Elder fraud is a $3 billion+ problem in the U.S., and scammers are getting smarter. We talk to families every week dealing with this exact situation.

If you're in this position, here’s what you can do right now:

✅ Start with empathy. Many older adults don’t realize they’ve been scammed—or feel too ashamed to admit it. Stay calm and supportive.

✅ Look for patterns. Check bank statements, credit cards, and phone logs. Recurring donations? Gift cards? Tech support charges? These are red flags.

✅ Get the bank involved. Some transactions can be frozen or reversed quickly if caught in time. Ask about fraud protection and account monitoring.

✅ Put legal protections in place. A Power of Attorney or Revocable Trust can allow you to intervene if cognitive decline or confusion becomes ongoing.

✅ Know this is elder financial abuse. And there are legal ways to protect your loved one moving forward.

If you’re unsure what to do next—we can help. Memento Law works with Tennessee families to create compassionate, judgment-free elder care plans that protect both dignity and dollars.

💬 Book a free consultation and we’ll walk you through the next step. You don’t have to do this alone.

Truth: A will doesn’t avoid probate—it guarantees it.

In Tennessee, if your estate plan relies on a will alone, your loved ones will still face:

• 9–18 months of probate court
• Frozen accounts they can’t access
• $30K+ in legal and administrative fees
• Delays, stress, and court supervision—while grieving

Wills are better than nothing, but they don’t protect your family from the system. They just give a judge instructions on how to distribute your assets after court.

✅ A living trust, on the other hand, allows everything to pass outside of court—quickly, privately, and without thousands in fees.

If your goal is to ease the burden on your family, it’s time to talk about a better plan.

💬 Book a free consultation and let’s walk through your options together.
