First place for WPL! 

Our team from Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A. participated in the Collier County Bar Association (CCBA) Golf Tournament and took home first place!

The tournament brought members of the legal community together for a day of golf, friendly competition, and connection. The CCBA supports the local legal community through professional development, networking, and initiatives that benefit the Southwest Florida community.

Congratulations to our team on the win, and thank you to the CCBA for bringing the legal community together!

I spent part of this morning under the Jolley Bridge representing the Marco Island Sunrise Rotary Club for the International Coastal Cleanup. My daughter was out there too, participating with her school at Tigertail Beach.

This was my second year participating. I’m a frequent walker—beach or otherwise—so I tend to notice the things that end up along our beaches, roads and waterways.

My daughter’s interesting find today was a small beach ball. Mine? What appeared to be a plastic mailbox. It was high tide, so apparently my excursion into the non-beach waterways gave me the opportunity to find the more interesting stuff! I've found some cool living things before on the same walking path a few months ago (such as a little baby octopus).

Of course, not everything we pick up is there because somebody intentionally left it behind. Wind, storms, tides and accidents have a way of moving things around. These things could have come from another state or even country! Regardless of how it gets there, somebody eventually has to pick it up.

One of the things I really enjoy about this area is seeing nature do what nature does. Learn a little about the natural flow of water, mangroves and oysters, and you begin to appreciate the science of clean water. Mangroves trap sediment and pollutants, oysters filter water as they feed, and natural systems can do an incredible amount of work without expensive chemicals. I love seeing that science in action.

When you visit a beautiful, clean beach on vacation, it is easy to assume it just looks that way. It doesn’t. There are a lot of people—and a pretty remarkable natural ecosystem—helping keep it that way.

And 1,000 years from now, I’d prefer future generations learn about what we did at this time and place in history from something other than the plastic they dig out of our riverbanks.

So yes, you get a T-shirt. But it’s definitely about more than the T-shirt.

Glad to spend another Saturday morning doing a small part to take care of the community we get to call home.

Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A. was proud to serve as one of the sponsors of the 2026 Marco Island Rotary Golf Classic, held August 29 at Hammock Bay Golf & Country Club. The annual event brought together members of the Southwest Florida community for a day of golf, fellowship, and support for local charitable efforts.

In addition to sponsoring the tournament, WPL had three of our attorneys, Trevor D. Allen, Ryan G. Welker, and Kenneth V. Mundy, out on the course for the day. It was a great opportunity to spend time with fellow members of the Marco Island and Southwest Florida community while supporting a great local event.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Leadership Marco Class of 2026 and to learn more about the history, people, and community that make Marco Island such a special place.

We are proud to congratulate two of our attorneys, Trevor D. Allen and Ryan G. Welker, on participating in the Marco Leadership Class of 2026!

Leadership Marco, a program of the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce, brings together local professionals and community leaders for an opportunity to learn more about the community they serve while developing leadership skills and building meaningful connections. Through the program, participants gain firsthand insight into Marco Island’s businesses, government, public safety, community organizations, and other important aspects of the island. The program also encourages participants to become actively involved in the community and support initiatives that make a positive impact.

We are excited to see Trevor and Ryan represent Woodward, Pires & Lombardo throughout the 2026 class and look forward to seeing the contributions they will make to our community!

🇺🇸 Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday at WPL! 🇺🇸

What a fun week celebrating America’s 250th Birthday with our WPL team! From homemade waffles and sweet treats to a patriotic BBQ, everyone came together to enjoy great food, great company, and plenty of red, white, and blue spirit. Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so special!

We had the opportunity to participate in the Hideaway Beach panel discussion on Florida homestead, attend and present at the Marco Island Yacht Club panel, celebrate our team on Employee Appreciation Day, and support a great cause at the Hope for Haiti Annual Gala.
