We were thrilled to attend the Blue Line Lawyer Institute Force Forum in Jekyll Island, GA. We got to hear from many preeminent law enforcement experts discussing the practical and legal implications of arrest-related deaths, and other issues related to defending law enforcement officers. This will help us better serve our law enforcement clients.

Thank you to Lance LoRusso and the LoRusso Law Firm for their efforts on behalf of cops across the country and in putting on this highly informative and valuable event for law enforcement officers and their attorneys. We can't wait to attend next year!

We had the pleasure of attending Legal Counselor's Seminar, part of the Pathways to Excellence Education and Empowerment Summit. Along with hundreds of officers, labor leaders, attorneys, and counselors, both from Idaho and and across the nation.

We had the opportunity to hear from experts across the country on issues like officer wellness, legal issues affecting officers, and other law enforcement issues. This information will help us better serve Idaho cops.

We also had the great privilege of hearing Border Czar Tom Homan speak about the importance of immigration enforcement! We couldn't agree more!

If anyone ever thought to commission a study about what street-level law enforcement officers actually think about immigration enforcement and assisting the federal government, they might be highly surprised to find that the opinions of administrators, elected Sheriffs, and Chiefs don't actually reflect the views of those for whom they claim to speak.

In other words, it might shock you to find out that law enforcement officers actually support enforcing the law!

Idaho law enforcement groups say they are increasingly frustrated by immigration legislation lawmakers are proposing without first seeking their input.

Our officers are required to be counselors, legal experts, expert tacticians, medics, amongst many other hats. We expect them to be much more than they are often capable of as humans, in the most difficult of circumstances.

However, If society wants professional law enforcement officers who are masters of their craft, they must pay a wage commensurate with that expectation.

The old adage applies: "You get what you pay for." And pay alone isn't enough. We must support our officers.

In Idaho, officers are mostly at-will employees, with minimal job protections despite consistently being put in incredibly difficult positions where they put their lives at risk but can be fired simply for doing something that is unpopular but lawful.

Officers facing termination should be given legal process to challenge their termination, requiring that the agency show their termination decisions are not arbitrary and capricious.
