I thought it was time I showed my face around here, and shared a little bit about myself and why I love doing what I do. I’m Mike Hill — a retired police officer turned Myrtle Beach Realtor®, husband to Jessica, dog dad to John Henry, and proud grandpa of six.

After 24 eventful years serving in law enforcement (from midnights to Motor Squad to Captain!) in Arlington, Virginia just outside the nation's capital, I traded in the badge for a new way to serve: helping folks find peace of mind and their perfect place along the Grand Strand in beautiful South Carolina.

Since 2015, I’ve worked with buyers and sellers from all over who fall in love with this coastal community just like I did. I have also been honored to serve as the 2025 President of the Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS®, keeping me closely connected to the market and fellow real estate professionals.

Working with people and walking them through the process, the contracts, the negotiations, etc, is the best part of this job for me. Same heart for service, just a different uniform these days. :)

With fall on the way, make sure you get your outdoor space ready for the seasonal change. Here are some important outdoor chores to help get your yard ready for autumn:

• Put away the outdoor toys and furniture left over from this summer. Check for items that need to be repaired or discarded, and clean them before putting them in storage.
• Clean your grill and either cover it or put it into storage in a sheltered spot like a shed or garage.
• Check with your pest control service and determine whether you need to get a handle on ant nests or other late summer creepy crawlies.
• If you have potted plants, consider which ones to throw away and which ones may be brought inside for the winter.

I may not have seen combat, but I’m proud to have served and to have worked alongside so many selfless men and women.

This photo was taken in 1976, when I received the U.S. Army Commendation Medal while serving at Fort Myer with the 561st MP Company.

Grateful for everyone who’s ever worn the uniform and for the lessons that service still carries with me today.
