🍂 October is here, which means cooler nights, spooky season, and finally being able to walk outside without immediately regretting it. 😅

Before you get too comfortable with football, pumpkin carving, and pretending Halloween candy is “for the kids,” here are your October homeowner DOs and DON’Ts. 🎃

Your October homeowner must-dos:
👍 Seal air leaks around windows & doors
If you can feel a breeze with the windows closed, congratulations... your house has invented outdoor heating. Seal those gaps now and keep the warm air where you’re paying for it.
👍 Inspect your roof before winter weather
Small roof problems have a bad habit of becoming BIG roof problems. Check for missing or damaged shingles now, before Oklahoma weather decides to conduct the inspection for you. 👀
👍 Clean carpets & rugs
Summer tracked plenty of dirt, dust, and who-knows-what through the house. Give those floors a good cleaning before everyone starts spending more time indoors.

Quick reminder on the DON’Ts:

👎 Don’t ignore small roof issues

A little maintenance now can help protect your home, keep energy costs in check, and prevent a few genuinely scary surprises later. 👻

Today, we remember. 🕊️

We remember the lives lost on September 11th, the heroes who ran toward danger to help others, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

As a veteran, Patriot Day is a meaningful reminder to me of what service, sacrifice, and love of country truly look like. It’s also a reminder of how quickly we came together as neighbors, communities, and Americans when we needed one another most.

25 years later, may we continue to honor their memory not only by remembering that day, but by choosing kindness, helping our neighbors, and taking care of one another.

We remember them today. We honor them always. ❤️

🔨 Happy Labor Day, friends!

Today’s for everyone who works hard, shows up, gets things done, and occasionally deserves to ignore the to-do list completely. 😎

So fire up the grill, spend some time with your favorite people, watch a little football, or proudly accomplish absolutely nothing. That honey-do list will still be there tomorrow. Trust me. 😂

🥵 Yes, I know. It’s approximately 847° outside and I’m about to tell you to think about your FURNACE. Just hear me out. 😂

September is here, and hopefully cooler Oklahoma weather isn’t too far behind. Plus, according to a little old-fashioned persimmon folklore, those spoons showing up inside the seeds mean we should get our snow shovels ready this winter. ❄️🥄

Is it scientific? Not even a little. Am I willing to believe anything promising cooler weather right now? Absolutely. 😅

So while we wait, here are your September homeowner must-dos:

👍 Prep your furnace for winter
Give it a checkup before you actually need it. The first cold snap is NOT when you want to discover something isn’t working.

👍 Service yard equipment before storage
Your mower and other lawn equipment have worked hard all summer. Clean them up, service what needs servicing, and get them ready for their well-earned winter vacation.

👍 Sweep & inspect your chimney
Planning on that first cozy fire of the season? Make sure your chimney is clean and ready before you light it up. 🔥

And the DON’Ts:

👎 Don’t wait for the first cold snap
👎 Don’t light the first fire without a clean chimney

A little prep now means fewer surprises later. And if the persimmons are right, Future You might be VERY glad you handled this stuff early. 😉

What a wild ride for these two! From waiting for a couple in Maine to sell their house so they could buy Keith and Theresa's home in SC and then driving all the way to Oklahoma to buy their next home to be closer to their family.
The road was full of bumps but we made it to the finish line!

📚✏️ Backpacks are packed, alarms are set, and parents everywhere are mentally preparing for the return of the school drop-off line. 😅

Back-to-school season is officially here! Wishing all of our students, teachers, staff, and families an amazing year filled with new friends, big accomplishments, and plenty of reasons to smile.
