Today was a career-defining, record setting day. I presented six cases to the Court to terminate the parental rights of some very, very bad people, and every single one was granted! It took several hours, but it was 💯 worth it!

Termination cases are intricate, complex matters that often have difficult, and at times, horrific allegations. It’s not for the faint of heart. Attention to detail is key to protect the case from being reversed on appeal, and I am proud to say that I have never had an adoption reversed during my twenty three years of practice.

I am so proud of the families I represented today for giving these sweet kids safe, stable, loving homes where they can continue to thrive and enjoy the lives they deserve.

Can’t wait to finalize their adoptions soon and change some last names!

Adoptions are always my favorite type of cases. I loved seeing this stepfather get an upgrade to “father” and feeling all of the love and joy in that courtroom was so special.

So happy for this sweet family and thankful to them for blessing me with the chance to be of service during this incredible time in their lives.

The weather may not have been ideal, but today was a great day for not one, but two adoptions!!!
I had the blessing to help upgrade an awesome aunt and uncle to “Mom” and “Dad” to two amazing girls who will get to live their best lives with an incredibly loving family.

What a fun way to end the work week!

I had a wonderful opportunity to finalize an adoption for two older children in another county today. It was the sweetest family who intend to adopt even more kids soon. 🙂

The daughter who was adopted this morning told me as we were walking out of the Courthouse, “Do you know how many years I’ve been in foster care?”
When I told her no, she said, “Four years.” I said, “Well, that stops today. You’re officially a (family’s last name), and nothing will ever change that.”
She has the biggest smile!

Adoptions are as much of a blessing to the families I represent as they are to me.

I’m so grateful to be able to do this for a living every single day. ❤️

My great-grandfather (Army), maternal grandfather (Navy), paternal grandfather (Army), great uncles (Army) and my husband (Air Force) all served our country in the military. Words can’t express how grateful I am for their contributions to our country and how they’ve shaped me as a person.

Adoptions are the best way to start the work week!

For the past eleven weeks, I have either filed and/or finalized an adoption every week. Each one is different. Each one is special.

I had the privilege of helping a man change from “stepfather” to “father” on Monday. It was a role and responsibility that this man had wanted for years, and I was honored to be a part of his transition.

Termination of parental rights and adoption matters are intricate, and I take pride in the opportunities to guide and educate my clients through the process.

There is no better way to start the work week than finalizing an adoption! I was blessed to represent a great family who officially became a party of 3 today. Their sweet addition was wiped out after the hearing but mustered up enough energy to give sweet smiles in many celebratory pictures afterwards.

I am so grateful that Judge Jo Atwood allowed other family members to be in the courtrooom to witness this special occasion. This adorable baby has a large, doting family who surrounds him with love.

Adoptions are very complex, but they are my favorite cases. I love navigating my clients through the laws, policies and procedures so that they are fully informed every step of the way.

I had the honor today to finalize an adoption in which the Stepfather adopted his Stepson. They are officially “Daddy” and “Son.” I was so happy to help this sweet family during this wonderful time!

What a great day for an adult adoption! That’s right - adult adoption. I had the privilege of finalizing a Stepfather’s adoption of his adult Stepdaughter. They are now officially Father & Daughter, and a new birth certificate is in the works to change her last name. It is a such an honor to be of service to this amazing family for this special event.
