USCIS INCREASES IMMIGRATION FEES: WHAT APPLICANTS NEED TO KNOW
⚖️ If you are applying for a work permit, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), or certain asylum-related benefits, recent changes to U.S. immigration fees could affect your application costs.
📅 Effective October 16, 2026, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) introduced inflation-related fee increases for several immigration procedures under federal law. Some fees have increased by $10, while others have risen by as much as $30.
💵 Here are some of the new fees:
🔹 Initial work permit (EAD): Increased from $560 to $570 for certain asylum applicants, parolees, and TPS beneficiaries.
🔹 Initial TPS application (Form I-821): Increased from $510 to $520.
🔹 Annual asylum fee: Increased from $102 to $105 for individuals required to pay it.
🔹 Immigration parole fee: Increased from $1,020 to $1,050 for applicable cases.
🚨 Why does this matter? Applications subject to the new fees that are postmarked on or after October 16 must include the correct payment. Submitting an incorrect amount may result in rejection and additional delays.
📌 Keep in mind that these changes do not apply equally to every immigration filing. Certain renewal fees remain unchanged, so it is essential to verify the exact amount required for your specific form and circumstances before submitting your application.
