NCRA speaks out on the shortcomings of digital reporting.
"...yet another startling example of the shortcomings of relying on digital recording methods to capture an accurate and official record. It is shocking to read how multiple inquiries into the chain of custody around the preparation of the transcript were summarily dismissed, despite multiple concerns raised about inaccuracies and omissions. The practice employed in this situation, which shipped pieces of the recording who knows where to be transcribed by multiple different parties that resulted in inaccuracies and missing testimony, ultimately led to this miscarriage of justice. This is an irrefutable example of why a stenographic court reporter, with professional and ethical duties, with years of training, and who bears personal responsibility, is crucial to the preservation of the record and ensuring that stories like this become lessons learned and not a recurring tragedy."
