FAR: Floor Area Ratio. One number that tells you how much building a piece of land can legally hold.
FAR is the ratio of total building square footage to the lot's square footage. A 1.0 FAR on a 10,000 SF lot allows a 10,000 SF building. A 2.0 FAR allows 20,000 SF, stacked, if zoning permits.
Here's what that means for you: FAR sets your ceiling before you draw a single plan. Check it before you fall in love with a site.
Land deal in the works? Let's run the numbers together.
