When birds turn your attic into a nursery! ๐ฆ๐ชน
During a recent attic inspection, we came across a torn gable vent screen that had become a hot spot for local birds. The birds punctured through the mesh and spent countless hours bringing in straw and debrisโcreating a massive pile of nesting material right inside the attic frame.
Why bird nests in the attic are a serious issue:
Health Hazards & Parasites: Bird droppings and nesting material can harbor bacteria, fungi, and pests like mites, fleas, and bugs that compromise your homeโs indoor air quality and overall hygiene.
Fire Hazards: Accumulations of dry twigs, straw, and grass inside an attic create a significant fire risk, especially near electrical wiring or fixture connections.
Restricted Ventilation: Blocked gable vents reduce necessary attic airflow, leading to heat buildup in summer and moisture condensation problems in winter.
When torn vent screens are left unaddressed, birds and other critters will quickly make themselves at home. Always ensure your gable vents are properly screened, repair any punctures, and safely clean out nesting debris!
