The Young Lawyer Board held our quarterly meeting, along with the WV Bar Annual Meeting, in Charleston last month and welcomed our newest District Representatives. Please welcome:
Chantel Kidd - District 6, Hannah West - District 7, Blair Wessels - District 8, and Alex Urban - District 8, to our Board.

We also transitioned leadership from Lindsey McIntosh, now the Immediate Past Chairperson, to Taylor Coplin as the Chairperson and Nicholas Gordon as the Vice Chairperson. During our meeting, the Board elected John Isner as the Secretary. The new leadership was sworn in along with the State Bar leadership at the Annual Dinner.

The West Virginia State Bar Board of Governors and Young Lawyers' Section partnered together during the month of September to raise money and bring awareness to Mission West Virginia’s important work in supporting foster and kinship families in our state.

***Tomorrow*** is our final fundraising event! It is a FREE event for all lawyers and legal professionals. There will be ice cream and other refreshments thanks to the generosity of our sponsors (Moses Auto Group, Ellen’s Ice Cream, The Wine Shop, 1010 Bridge, Capitol Market and TOPDOG Legal Marketing).

Please help us achieve a strong turnout by encouraging your colleagues and friends to attend. Donations are not required, but if you wish to donate, even the cost of today’s coffee ($10) or lunch ($25) makes a HUGE difference to these children and shows that the legal profession cares.

Recently, Anita Casey, the Executive Director of the West Virginia State Bar and Eric Hayhurst, former Young Lawyer Section Board President, presented at the WVU College of Law. This Lunch and Learn Series was all about the State Bar and the Young Lawyer Section. We hope to see many young lawyers and next weekend’s State Bar conference in Charleston!

The holiday cheer continued when YLS Board members Taylor Coplin and Angela Brunicardi-Doss worked together to get donations for a family in Wood County (District 3). With the donations from members of the Highmark West Virginia’s Legal Department and other young lawyers in District 3 we were able to provide everything on their Christmas lists, clothes/hygiene items, and even a grocery store gift card to help with a holiday meal!

YLS Board Member Hilary Bright shared images from the holiday drive for a family in Preston County. A few local attorneys even came and helped to wrap the gifts. We received everything on the Christmas list! The family was most appreciative, and we know the children were very happy with all of the toys that Santa brought them.
