💰 Wondering why your mortgage payment keeps going up? It might be an ESCROW SHORTAGE!
Here’s what that means:
🏡 Your monthly mortgage payment often includes money for property taxes and homeowners insurance. Your lender holds those funds in an escrow account and pays the bills when they’re due.
📈 If your property taxes increase or your insurance premium goes up, your escrow account may not have enough money to cover the difference.
That’s called an escrow shortage.
What happens next?
✔️ Your lender may increase your monthly mortgage payment to make up the shortage.
✔️ You may also have the option to pay the shortage as a lump sum to keep your monthly payment lower.
Don’t panic if you receive that notice—it doesn’t always mean your lender made a mistake.
If you’re confused by your escrow analysis or mortgage statement, send me a message. I’m happy to help you understand what’s going on and point you in the right direction.
