Board meeting, but make it spooky 🐀🐸🎃

Today, Alexa and our fall law clerk Mara headed to the North Carolina Zoo for the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) fall Board of Governors meeting, where the zoo team got into the Halloween spirit with a few “spooky” guests: a rat, a toad, and an armadillo.

It was a memorable backdrop for a full day of bar association business.

Say hello to Mara Cooper, WAM's Fall 2026 Law Clerk. We are thrilled to have her!

Mara is a rising 2L JD/MBA student at Elon University School of Law and Elon University Martha and Spencer Love School of Business , and she arrives with a real curiosity for IP and corporate transactions. She will be with us through late November.

Mara joins us through the firm's academic externship program, which we run each spring and fall for local NC law students, giving them practical, deal-level exposure to entertainment law.

Give her a warm welcome! She is diving straight into the busy world of film, TV, and media, and we could not be happier to have her here.

At the end of last month, Alexa spoke with fellow panelists on the current state of filmmaking at Comic-Con International in beautiful, sunny San Diego. The energy was electric, and it was a pleasure to meet so many of you at the panel, on the convention floor, and in lines between events. Thank you for an amazing turnout at the event and looking forward to future conversations!

We're proud to share that Alexa Whiteside, our Founder, CEO & Managing Partner, has been elected as a Board Member to the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Board of Governors.

The election took place at the NCBA Annual Meeting in Charlotte this past weekend, where Alexa was one of seven new board members named. She'll serve a 3-year term beginning in 2026-2027.

This appointment continues a run of NCBA leadership Alexa has held since relocating to North Carolina in 2019, including Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee and Section Chair of the NCBA Sports & Entertainment Law Section.

Congratulations, Alexa! We're grateful for your service to the North Carolina legal community and excited for what this term brings.

OK Tribeca, you understood the assignment.
A week of screenings, talks, and conversations that actually went somewhere. And the city showed up for it. Knicks in 5, Emmy season heating up, the World Cup, all happening at once. NYC was so back!
Ended the week at Tribeca X in a room full of creatives, executives, and the people building what's next. That energy is staying with us.

Big news to share! Our Founder, CEO & Managing Partner Alexa M. Whiteside has been named in the 2026 Lawdragon 500 X: The Next Generation, recognized for her work in Entertainment, Intellectual Property, & Media.
