VA Disability and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) are two distinct programs run by two different agencies – each with its own application, rules, regulations, etc.

Being approved for one agency’s disability benefit does NOT mean automatic approval for the other. However, many disabled veterans are awarded (and justly deserve) benefits from both the VA and Social Security.

We get a lot of questions about what a hearing is like, especially during this time of COVID-19. Since March 2020, SSA hearings have been held by phone or video to protect both workers and claimants.

Now Social Security is scheduling a few in-person hearings. If your hearing is in person, remember to bring your I.D. and mask - both will be required.
