Most people think estate planning is only for the wealthy.

It’s not.

If you own property…
Have children…
Have a business…
Or simply want a say in what happens to everything you worked for…

You need a plan.

Too many families end up stressed, confused, and fighting because nothing was legally put in place beforehand.

A good estate plan protects your family, your assets, and your wishes.

That’s real peace of mind.

When a person passes away, a power of attorney no longer has any legal authority.

A power of attorney is only valid during the lifetime of the person who granted it. The moment that person dies, the authority ends automatically.

At that point, the matter moves into succession law. Handling a deceased person’s affairs requires the proper court authority, such as:

• Letters Testamentary or Letters of Executorship
• Letters of Administration
• Judgment of Possession

These documents are issued through the court and give the legal authority to manage and transfer the deceased person’s property.

This is a common misunderstanding. Many families believe a power of attorney allows someone to continue handling matters after death — but legally, it does not.

Once someone passes, the only way to handle their estate is through the succession process.

When someone you love takes the time to put their wishes in writing—whether through a will, trust, or estate plan—it’s not just paperwork. It’s their voice speaking for them when they no longer can.
