This month's donation from the Crawford and Boyle Foundation, made by Eric, is a little bit different:
"I have a client who is a veteran with PTSD. He got into some trouble with the law, and we're attempting to get him into the local Veteran's Court for help/treatment. However, the local DA is requiring he undergo and pass a certain evaluation before they'll agree to admit him to Veteran's Court," Eric explains.
"Unfortunately, my client did not have the funds to pay for this needed, yet expensive evaluation. I sent out letters to various legislators and veteran's groups asking for financial support to help pay for this evaluation for my client. And after speaking with David about it, we agreed to allow my monthly contribution to be used to help this anonymous veteran undergo the evaluation."
"So, my $500 contribution has been paid to the expert to conduct this examination. Additionally, of all of the people I reached out to, State Representative Bruce Williamson (Williamson for Walton) was the only one to respond, and he generously included a check for $100 to help out. He didn't ask for recognition, but I want to give credit where it is due, to one of our elected officials who chose to quietly financially assist a constituent who was in a bind. Those funds combined paid for half of the evaluation, and the client is using tax refunds to pay the other half."
"I'm glad that my donation can help out someone who honorably served our country, yet who was rewarded for that service with PTSD and all of the deleterious effects that come from it. Hopefully our support can help him get back on his feet and get the treatment that he needs and deserves."
