Finally, a community willing to challenge the 9th Circuit nonsense on enforcing laws against urban camping. Thank you, Grants Pass! I hope SCOTUS grants certiori next session.

The refusal to allow the full appellate court to rehear the issue prompted significant backlash from 16 federal active and senior judges.

The hard facts support that systemic racism in policing is no more prevalent than societal racism experienced by minorities in other daily interactions with the public as a whole.

While there are racists among police officers, there is plenty of evidence to suggest they are a very small minority. Among the most interesting statistics is that while blacks are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police than white individuals are, police officers are 18 times more likely to be killed by black offenders than white offenders. Also both black and white citizens are far more likely to be killed by a black offender than a white offender.

Police interactions with minorities will not see decline until there is widespread change in the behaviors of violent offenders, something we all should hope to see within every racial subset in society. Blaming police violence on racism is an ill attempt to overlook a bigger problem of a violent society and decreasing moral mindset.

The images of police officers joining in to support peaceful protectors is clear encouraging sign that police are eager to see societal change. Violent protests that flaunt disrespect for our nation's laws must be condemned by all good people regardless of their race or ethnicity.

Hold officers accountable who use excessive force. But there’s no evidence of widespread racial bias.

Chief McCarthy,
If you really mean what you say about the fine men and women of your department doing find(sic) work, why on God's green earth have you failed them in this grotesque abdication of your duties as Chief of Police? Good police work often draws criticism, expect it. If the complaints are substantiated take action to correct the poor behaviors - don't excoriate the majority's good work and professionalism by telling them to quit doing their jobs!
Leading a police force is hard, too - I've been there, but giving an order to make your job easier is a moral failure and you are placing your community at great risk and wasting taxpayers money while perpetuating a fraud of providing them police services. Get to the bottom of the problems or step aside to let someone else with the proper moral compass lead your agency.

The Midland Borough Police Chief has directed his officers to stop doing certain police work because he and the town’s Mayor have been receiving too many complaints.
