In September, the Homes for Heroes Foundation donated $111,000 to the National Center for Healthy Veterans during its Barn Raising Event in Virginia, helping advance a mission dedicated to supporting Veterans through meaningful work, skill development, and renewed purpose.

This additional investment helps fulfill the matching requirement for a grant awarded by the Virginia To***co Region Revitalization Commission, advancing the development of an agricultural training complex at Valor Farm.

Once complete, the project will provide Veterans with hands-on opportunities to develop valuable workforce skills through hydroponic greenhouse production and controlled environment agriculture. These facilities will allow Veterans to gain practical experience in agriculture, technology, equipment operations, and business management while contributing to a sustainable enterprise that supports the organization's mission.

At Homes for Heroes Foundation, we believe supporting those who have served our country means investing in opportunities that help them build healthier, more fulfilling futures. We're proud to support the National Center for Healthy Veterans and its commitment to creating pathways for Veterans to rediscover purpose, develop new skills, and thrive.

🇺🇸 First closing. Two heroes served. One incredible milestone.

Congratulations to Homes for Heroes Real Estate Specialist Gil Bolibol on his first Homes for Heroes closing! 🎉

Gil had the honor of helping the Santiagos, both serving in the U.S. Air Force, find their new home in Colorado Springs and receive $3,115 in Hero Rewards as our way of saying thank you for their service.

Today, Homes for Heroes announced that Amit Kulkarni has been named Chief Executive Officer, with founder Ruth Johnson stepping into the role of Executive Chairman.

For more than two decades, Ruth has built Homes for Heroes around a simple but powerful idea: the people who serve and strengthen our communities deserve meaningful support when they buy or sell a home.

What began in Minnesota in the aftermath of 9/11 has grown into a national network of more than 2,900 real estate and mortgage professionals, helping more than 81,000 heroes save over $166 million through the program.

And Ruth’s work doesn’t stop here. As Executive Chairman, she’ll continue to play an important role in the organization’s mission, strategic direction and growth.

Amit brings more than 20 years of experience across real estate, proptech, portals and MLS organizations, along with a deep personal connection to the importance of housing and opportunity. He has served as interim CEO since April and officially steps into the CEO role today.

As Homes for Heroes approaches its 25th anniversary in 2027, this transition marks both a celebration of what Ruth has built and an exciting next chapter for the organization.

Congratulations to Amit and Ruth on their new roles, and thank you to the entire Homes for Heroes community for continuing to make this mission possible.
