It is with great enthusiasm that I announce a significant transition in my career. On May 2nd, following 31 years of practicing law, I will be closing my practice and assuming the role of Director of Indigent Defense for Douglas County, Nevada. I am eager to oversee indigent defense services for the County and contribute to the community in a new capacity. While I have cherished my time as a practicing attorney, I am ready for a change and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the numerous individuals who have entrusted me with their cases and collaborated with me over the years. I am committed to continuing to serve the community and look forward to working with many of you in my new role. I wish you all continued success.

To my Nevada licensed attorney friends or friends of friends… we tragically lost one of our defenders last week and the County is looking for someone to take over the contract. It’s a good one mot to mention you’d get to be my colleague!

Every year on Independence Day, I read the Declaration and the Constitution. Maybe an attorney thing, but a good thing for every citizen of this country to do to remind ourselves of the principles our country was founded upon as well as the oft referenced, but rarely examined by most, supreme law of our land. In case you wondered, Mother’s Day was created on May 9, 1914, by President Woodrow Wilson via this proclamation and has been observed the 2nd Sunday in May ever since.

President Wilson suggested we “display the flag at [our] homes or other suitable places on the second Sunday in May as a public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country.”
While this is a fine idea, we suggest giving mom flowers, candy, and/or a heartfelt thank, you for all she’s done for her children, her family, and our community.
