Blind spot accidents involving large commercial trucks can cause devastating injuries, but determining who's liable isn't always straightforward.
While truck blind spots (often called "no-zones") are a known hazard, simply being in a truck's blind spot does not automatically make another driver responsible for a collision. Liability depends on the specific facts of the crash and whether someone acted negligently.
Depending on the circumstances, responsibility may rest with:
🚛 The truck driver
🏢 The trucking company
🔧 A maintenance provider
📦 A cargo loading company
🚗 Or even multiple parties
An investigation may look at factors such as improper lane changes, failure to check mirrors, distracted driving, driver fatigue, speeding, vehicle maintenance, and whether federal trucking regulations were followed.
