Empowering Women, Cultivating Health:
Celebrating Voices, Wellness, and Resilience
NWHW Empowering Women Cultivating Health
National Women's Health Week (NWHW) is just one week away! This observance focuses on empowering women to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being. Throughout the week, the Office on Women’s Health (OWH) will join organizations, health professionals, and communities across the country to empower women to advocate for themselves in health care settings.

This year’s theme, “Empowering Women, Cultivating Health: Celebrating Voices, Wellness, and Resilience,” is dedicated to empowering women to take charge
of their health journey and shining a light on health issues unique to women.
We’re celebrating the strength and determination of women who have taken control
of their health and fostering an environment where all women feel supported and empowered to speak up about their health needs and concerns. Throughout the week,
visit https://www.womenshealth.gov/nwhw to explore our daily themes and access
helpful resources.

On this , we urge you to join us in the fight for gender equity.

The gender pay gap persists into retirement: due to lower lifetime earnings, women receive less in Social Security and pensions. Women only collect 80% of what men do in Social Security benefits, and a mere 76% in pensions. In terms of overall retirement income, women have only 70% of what men do. White men over 65 have an average annual income of $44,200, while white women over 65 must make do with $23,100, Black women with $21,900, and Latinas with $14,800.
