At the October 13, 2026 Medford City Council meeting, one thing became crystal clear for all: legal costs associated with the Mayor Lungo Koehn’s and the Fire Chief’s repeated violations of the collective bargaining that it has with the Medford Firefighters Local 1032 must end and the parties need an immediate path toward resolution. City Council members recognize and support this change. 💪

💥Come get your questions answered with Hailey Ferguson and Leah M Barrault who will be teaching the Contract Trends workshop at Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) JJ Jennings Educational Seminar on Oct. 27th💥

This class will go over trends that our firm is seeing in contracts settled between the parties and in contracts created by the JLMC process or through a fact finding process, which we hope will inform your bargaining teams and members about the parameters of a deal worth taking vs. fighting over. This class is intended to will complement the class on Oct 28th with Matt Reddy and Rob W. Green, which will focus on bargaining basics. Hope to see you there!

Regardless of how you vote tomorrow, make sure you get out to the polls. Just know that a no vote has real consequences for your fire department, police department, DPS, senior center, and library. 

Your fire department has lost three of its full-time staff members—which is half of the force—due to job insecurity. You may lose one more with a no vote. We could potentially bring back two positions with the ambulance receipts account but that will decimate the account putting future purchases on the backs of you, the taxpayers. However, who will want to apply here with the continued threat of losing their job in the future?

The Templeton MA Police Local 155 and DPS departments have already lost workers and can lose many more. You’re running the risk of having to contract out road maintenance and snow removal. Additionally, who is going to respond when you call 911? Can you wait for fire or police during an emergency? Are you willing to put a price on the life of a family member or a neighbor while waiting for an ambulance, fire apparatus, or police officer/State Trooper?

These aren’t scare tactics - this is your new reality.

Due to the inclement weather forecast, the Robert B. McCarthy Scholarship Golf Tournament has been postponed.

The tournament has been rescheduled from Monday, September 28 to Monday, October 19 at Juniper Hill Golf Course.

A big thank you to Rob Green with the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) and Hailey Ferguson with Barrault and Associates LLC. for their time, support, and hard work throughout our recent JLMC arbitration process.

Their knowledge, guidance, and commitment were a huge help to our Local as we worked through this process and reached our arbitration ruling.

We truly appreciate both of them for standing with our members and putting in the work behind the scenes.
