I just finished this morning a 21 page summary Judgment that I was up all night with. Now I can relax a bit and prepare for the next one. I honestly do have friends who think I ought to do something besides work. And I will do my best to do both. On my way to court this afternoon. but I have a day or two free, it seems.

I just now filed my huge Motion in Federal Court, the one that has made it difficult to sleep. I have one more project tomorrow, and I think I am going to make it. I am exhausted, but very pleased.😃

I won a case today for client charged with attempted robbery of a credit union. He was acting a bit strange when he went to talk to them about his wrecked car and is attempts to salvage it; but he was not attempting to rob them. The judge agreed, and client will not spend Christmas in jail. A good day.

Someone asked me today if I still enjoy practicing law. I said I did sometimes when I really accomplish something. This evening a client called me to tell me that the hearing we were going to have in 2 weeks to decide whether to release him from jail, is no longer necessary, as he is home with his family tonight. His parole officer picked him up at the jail without warning and took him home. I had a long talk with the parole board today, and I am not sure that was what did it; but tonight I am very happy about my day, and happy with what I do. May you all have a Happy Thanksgiving.

"Not Guilty". It was just a Class C Misdemeanor, P***c Intoxication, reduced to an infraction to avoid a jury. But my client was on parole and facing some hard time for a conviction anyway. so relieved.

Two day jury trial next Monday just canceled for witness problems. Just when I was feeling overwhelmed, a bit of breathing room. I win. They lose.

Went to Denver to lawyers conference for 3 days and then yesterday was in court all day. Today the clients lined up to talk to me at the office. The last one, at 8 PM was a Chinese man who went out and brought me back some very good Chicken Cashew. Yum. I feel much better now. Thanks!

I have a client who used to be a police officer. When he was, we did not agree on much. Yesterday, we won our 4th case together. And I admit it is a lot of fun. We make a great team.

A man who has been on death row after his conviction for murder 27 years ago has been granted a new trial by the US Supreme Court. "We conclude that the prosecution violated its constitutional obligation to correct false testimony," Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in her majority opinion, invoking the 14th Amendment's right to due process. "We reverse the judgement below and remand the case for a new trial." Those who do not understand the 14th Amendment are trying to weaken it. Do not let them.

It appears a nasty custody battle ended today when my client picked up her son and returned home with him. A great relief.

At 7:40 PM this evening, a judge signed an order for me recalling a warrant on my client. It is heartwarming to see that some public servants do go out of their way to serve. Thanks, your honor.
