Parental allowance in Germany for 2024:
New income limits: Starting in 2024, the income limits for parental allowance will be lowered. This means that the taxable income above which there is no entitlement to parental allowance will be lower for couples and single parents. This change is part of a reform to meet the Federal Minister of Finance's targets and is currently undergoing parliamentary proceedings.

A stricter income limit will apply to births or adoptions from April 1, 2024. Couples may then have earned a maximum of 200,000 euros in the year before the birth ("last completed assessment period"), based on taxable income. For single people there is a limit of 150,000 euros. For children born as of April 1, 2025, even stricter values apply to couples. Then the entitlement no longer applies to taxable income above 175,000 euros.

Obligation of the heir to inform persons entitled to a compulsory share: Requirements for the inclusion of a register of estates by a notary

The OLG Zelle (Urteil vom 29.10.2020 - 6 U 34/20) decided that in the recording of a notarial record of the estate, the scope of the investigation of the estate inventory is not solely at the discretion of the notary. The notary must make those investigations that an objective third party would consider necessary in the position of the creditor.

Das OLG Zelle Entshcied, dass bei der Aufnahmen eines notariellen Verzeichniees über den Nachlass steht der Umfang der Ermittlungen über den Nachlassbestand nicht allein im Ermessen des Notars. Der Notar hat diejenigen Nachforschungen anzustellen, die ein objektiver Dritter in der Lage des Gläubigers für erforderlich halten würde.

2020 National Adoption Conference canceled
It is with deep disappointment that NCFA announces that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the National Adoption Conference as scheduled for June 23-25, 2020. Our team has been assessing a variety of contingency plans as the Covid-19 situation escalated, and we had hoped to determine an alternative date and location, if necessary, prior to making a final decision. However, we learned today, that on Wednesday, the Conference venue, Hotel at UMD, temporarily closed with no confirmed re-opening date, and has announced significant layoffs, leaving us with no choice but to make a cancellation decision now.
